Foreign direct investments/ BSH increase slightly: 20% of them in the real

The value of foreign direct investments reached 412 million euros at the end of the third quarter, almost at the same level as the July-September period of the previous year. From the data of the Bank of Albania, it results that foreign direct investments have increased by 0.1% compared to last year.

The component that has contributed most to this slight increase is the reinvested profit, which has expanded by 15% in annual terms. The amount of reinvested profit is estimated to be 234 million euros, while the capital injection was estimated at 178 million euros, or 17% less than a year ago.

But in which sectors are these foreign investments made in Albania?

Almost 20% of foreign direct investments have been in real estate, 19% in the financial mediation sector, 14% in hydrocarbons, while investments in energy have been in the amount of 11% and in transportation in the amount of 4%.

What about the Albanians, how much have they invested abroad?

Our holdings abroad, i.e. financial assets in the form of direct investments abroad, are estimated at around 57 million euros, down by around 7%.

Portfolio investments, i.e. investments in shares, bonds and other securities, resulted in a net outflow of 118 million euros. The Depository Corporations sector has expanded its foreign holdings in debt securities, by around 109 million euros. At the same time, the decrease in liabilities to non-residents continued, in the direction of the reduction of the exposure of debt securities by 19 million euros (as a result of the increase in the participation of resident banks in the Eurobond of the General Government).
