INSTAT data: More women than men engaged in scientific research and development
An increasing number of women are involved in scientific research and development. In a statistical report published by the Institute of Statistics (INSTAT), it shows that throughout the year 2022, 3,748 people have engaged in scientific research and development activities in Albania full-time and part-time.
This number is defined as the number of people who work for the conception and creation of new knowledge, products, processes, methods and systems.
In the personnel engaged in scientific research and development during 2022 by gender, 54.4% are women, meanwhile during 2021 the highest percentage is occupied by men with 50.6%.
The highest number of personnel engaged in scientific research and development belongs to higher education institutions, with 81.6%. Here, the personnel with the educational level "PhD" occupies the largest weight with 51.2% and compared to 2021 it has increased by 5.2%.
In the time period 2021-2022, the largest share of funds for scientific research and development, according to the structure of performance sectors, has been allocated to higher education institutions, respectively with 53.6% during 2021 and 52.5% during 2022.
