Dead democracy
Today such a conclusion is easily more attainable. The students, who should have been in the vanguard not only of the changes, but also of the dominance of the political life in the country, were used by the political elite of the time as an excellent garnish. Then the curtain fell and no one tried to hide that everything was planned according to a well-organized plan.
Even if there was no central direction, it was the actors themselves who made sure that everything was under their control. I will eat your flesh, but keep your bones. And so it was. It is enough to see the political, media and business elite today to prove that everything has worked perfectly.
The only young politician, who seemed to disrupt the scheme, left it "with pekule". Apart from the change he carried on his back, he was the only one who had not left Ramiz Ali's antechamber and, as such, destroyed the scheme.
Edi Rama, chairman of the SP and Prime Minister of Albania, is old enough in politics to be a tattered and repulsive garment, due to heavy consumption and political heritage.
Although it seems paradoxical, but the son of the member of the Presidium of the People's Assembly and the grandson of the minister of Enver Hoxha, at the beginning of democracy he was more radical than the most important part of the Democratic Party of the time, while today he is a direct successor and the most beneficiary great politician of the electorate that makes up a large part of the Enverist vocation.
Sali Berisha, the first and only real chairman of the DP, is back at its head and continues to be the biggest guarantor of the scheme of controlled democracy in the country, leading this party, not only now, according to the method of carrots to friends and of cucumbers to enemies.
Ilir Meta, invited to Ramzis Ali's meeting with the students of the University of Tirana, has returned to the head of the party he founded in 2004 and, after the release of the file as an associate of the former state security, the idea that nothing has been accidental for the son of a simple family from Çepani i Skrapar.
The rest of the politicians are just dice in their hands. This trio gives you the opportunity to make a career and these to destroy it, while the chances are that these themselves are part of a larger scheme and mechanism that guarantees their continuity and inviolability. Apart from the political elite, the same situation applies to the media and the economy.
The media takes care to protect this political class, due to the great economic benefits, while most of the so-called oligarchs are former officers of the old regime, therefore the most ideologically indoctrinated part, which shows that they are also not by chance in those economic quotas. Of course not all.
Civil society is non-existent at best, bought at worst. Not to mention the intellectuals, that in most cases, most of them are inheritors of the communist mentality and philosophy, while the rest are scared and anemic.
They are of no use. Democracy in Albania has turned into a stale game. Citizens no longer believe in the change that can come from the elections and, instead of reacting, they have chosen to run away, to emigrate.
The mockery seems to have been understood by them and they are powerless in front of this gigantic machine that ensures the continuity of the game without affecting its ilk. They don't like the government, but they don't believe in the opposition either, which keeps the situation stuck, unchanged.
If we were to paraphrase political science professor Ivan Krastev, democracy in the country has lost its chance to self-correct and has taken more care to keep the democratic facade intact.
Governments in the country have been changed, but it has not been possible to correct their policies, because in this type of democracy people have lost hope that their voice can bring change.
Chances are we have reached the point where all our institutions care about maintaining the facade and the status quo and nothing else. The democratic system has failed from the start. He was stillborn. There was no way it could happen otherwise.
