Today marks 10 years since the removal of the barricade over the bridge in Mitrovica

The barricade on the main Ibri bridge in Mitrovica, placed by the Serbian parallel structures of the north, was finally removed on June 17, 2014, around 5:00 am. The action to remove the barricade placed by the so-called "bridge guards" was removed by them, and lasted about four hours, while no incident was recorded.
During this action, increased forces of the Kosovo Police and the Italian carabinieri were observed on the bridge, who did not allow the presence of citizens near the bridge. The removal of the barricade, which for a long time had divided the city of Mitrovica and prevented freedom of movement, was done by two excavators that had come from the north.
After that a park was built and then the wall. Both have been removed, but the bridge was still not opened on the grounds that the European Union is renovating it. The works have been completed there for some time, but it is not yet open.
