New discoveries about Parkinson's disease

New discoveries regarding the traces of Parkinson's in the body. Metabolic changes have been found in the blood of patients affected by this disease that are not present in the blood of healthy people.

Correcting these abnormalities and restoring balance could lead to improvements in the creation of therapies, and addressing them differently from current ones.

The study is considered very important, it is in its first steps, and was carried out on 69 patients at the Advanced Biotechnology Clinic in Naples, with the collaboration of many Italian universities.

The changes observed are in amino acids, which are the building blocks of proteins, and in mitochondria, which are the energy powerhouses of cells.

According to the authors, this study, if reconfirmed in broader and further studies, could be very helpful and open up new scenarios to make an important breakthrough in the treatment of this pathology.
