New discoveries confirm the possibility of life on Mars

Astronomers discovered new information about life on Mars that could bode well for tech billionaire and space enthusiast Elon Musk, who is planning to land humans on the red planet.
Elon Musk has built his Starship rocket, which he says will eventually take humans to Mars.
According to researchers, life on the red planet was present millions of years ago until water - the main source of life - disappeared. The team of scientists estimated that the surface of Mars – once home to rivers, lakes and oceans – looked like Earth in the early days of our solar system, according to The Sunday Times.
How water disappeared from the planet is a question that scientists have not been able to answer.

Their study, published in the journal Geology, found that water was also present in the late Hesperian period, challenging beliefs about the disappearance of water during that period about 2.9 billion years ago.
According to Researchers at Imperial College London, there were "signs that water was abundant in Mars' Gale Crater, a 92-mile-diameter basin south of the equator, long after the planet was thought to have become dry and inhospitable."
The team managing the Curiosity rover also discovered such layers that could only have been formed by water.
