Boston Herald/ Edi Rama's 'unfortunate' joke: Trump drops the barbs, but doesn't accept them

We need to provide Edi Rama with a late-night comedy show.
When it comes to making fun of Donald Trump, the Albanian prime minister is funnier than "comedians" Jimmy Kimmel, Steve Colbert, and Jimmy Fallon combined (none of them could even intern with Johnny Carson).
But it remains to be seen whether Trump finds Rama's offensive joke funny or not.
Trump, as is well known, is much better at giving jabs than taking them.
Rama, 61, the longtime socialist leader of this small Balkan country, had other political leaders laughing to tears at a European summit in Copenhagen last week when he joked about Trump's confusion of country names.
Trump was in the White House trying to end the wars in Gaza and Ukraine.
Speaking about the many conflicts he claims to have ended in the world — such as the war between Azerbaijan and Armenia — Trump has several times confused Armenia with Albania.
Armenia is a landlocked country in the South Caucasus, bordered by Azerbaijan and Turkey. Albania is located in the Balkans, near Greece and Montenegro.
Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law, is planning a multibillion-dollar luxury development project with Arab investors on an uninhabited Albanian island just off the coast. Locals call it "Trump Island." It will be a gold mine for politicians.
Trump, on one occasion, spoke of “ending the war between Azerbaijan and Albania” when he actually meant between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
When announcing the peace agreement between the two countries, Trump posed at the White House shaking hands with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
“You saw Azerbaijan,” Trump said. “It was a big war, going on for thirty, thirty-five years with, uh, Albania. Think about that.”
One of those “guys” — Azerbaijani President Aliyev — was in the group of leaders at the European summit in Copenhagen, along with French President Emmanuel Macron and others, when Rama began his skit by mocking Trump.
The story of the three leaders mocking Trump made news across Europe and the video went viral.
In the video, Rama jokingly addresses Macron, rebuking him for his and Aliyev's (who was standing there) failure to "end the war."
“You should apologize to us for not congratulating us on the peace agreement that President Trump made between Albania and Azerbaijan,” Rama said jokingly.
As the group laughed, Macron smiled and said with a serious face:
“I'm sorry about that.”
"He worked very hard," Rama added, imitating Trump.
But once Rama's comments spread around the world, he was forced to back down.
In a famous apology, Rama blamed the media for turning his words into "political poison."
"The truth is that President Trump is a leader who has brought the word 'peace' back into the vocabulary of the West."
Too little, and perhaps too late.
You don't like Superman's cape, especially if you want Trump to build you a luxury island.
