MPs do not skimp on luxury, they spent 400,000 euros in 8 months on trips abroad

For plane tickets and hotels, taxis or rental cars... together with diets and translators, Albanian MPs spent 400,000 euros until August just for trips abroad.
Most of the money appears to have gone to travel tickets, followed by hotel accommodation and bonuses.
Legislators' spending has exceeded initial forecasts, spending 70 percent of the total budget for 2024 in eight months.
"With this progress, 5-6 million additional budget will be needed for this item. For the 8-month period, 105 orders were issued for travel abroad, for the travel of a total of 339 people, of which 212 MPs, 25 political staff and 122 administrative staff." - Parliament of Albania.
The expenses for the 140 representatives of the people in the Assembly have been significantly expanded also in terms of salaries. After the agreement reached between the government and the opposition at the end of May last year, the expenses for their salaries and social security have more than doubled.
From 227.4 million ALL in January-August of the previous year, for the same period of time this year, 736.4 million ALL was spent on the salaries of MPs.
Even if it were not for Sali Berisha without the right to pay for many months and several other MPs with functions in the government, this amount would be even higher.
"Arguments on the actual realization lower than the wage fund plan, are related to the lack of completion of the number of employees (including MPs). Out of 140 deputies for whom a salary fund is planned, 9 deputies are not paid in the Assembly, due to their functions in the government; the political staff in the process of filling and the administrative staff also in the process of recruitment." - Parliament of Albania.
