Contrary to what Sali Berisha claims, he has requested not once, but twice to obtain a visa and travel to the United States, where he has been declared persona non grata, but his requests have been ignored by the US State Department.
Although Berisha stated during a press conference that since leaving office in 2013, he had never requested a visa to the US, the facts say otherwise.
According to documents filed with FARA, the lobbying company Continental, which signed the $6 million contract with the Democratic Party, has made two requests on behalf of Sali Berisha.
The first on March 28, signed by representatives of several Albanian-American associations, including Nuredin Seci, who is the guarantor of the $6 million for the lobbying contract, requesting Secretary of State Marco Rubio to provide Sali Berisha with a short-term transit visa.
But, after more than a month since this request to provide Sali Berisha with a visa has been ignored by the US Department of State, Continental PLLC, a law firm affiliated with Continental Strategy, which, according to the $6 million contract, has signed another financial agreement with the Democratic Party, sent a second letter, just a few days ago, on May 1.
It again calls for Secretary of State Marco Rubio to lift sanctions against Sali Berisha.
But despite Berisha's two requests to travel to America, his requests have been rejected, and the leader of the Democratic Party of Albania (DP) remains declared "non grata" by the American administration.
