Former Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, is expected to be physically present at the October 31 session at the Constitutional Court, where his request to overturn the decision to dismiss him from office will be reviewed.
The news was made public by moderator Endri Xhafo during the show "Log." on News24 , referring to a direct communication with one of Veliaj's lawyers.
"Today I communicated with one of Mr. Veliaj's lawyers, because he has a group of lawyers who are helping him in this matter. He told me that Veliaj will be present at the session on October 31," said Xhafo.
He explained that Veliaj's participation in the session is part of a regular judicial process, and the Constitutional Court has the obligation to ensure this presence through cooperation with the relevant institutions.
"It is the obligation of the Constitutional Court. What he requested from the Municipal Council and was not given, is now being implemented in a very practical way. The Prison Directorate takes measures for the transport of the detained person at the request of the Criminal Court," Xhafo added.
Veliaj is currently under security guard, while he is pursuing a legal battle to oppose his dismissal and block the holding of new elections in Tirana.
