The Constitutional Court suspended the elections in Tirana, PS message to the structures: Keep up the work!

Following the Constitutional Court's decision to suspend the November 9 elections in Tirana, SP structures were advised through a message to continue their work.
News24 journalist Ergys Gjencaj reports for BW that the Socialist Party has advised the structures set up for the November 9 elections to keep in mind the meetings with the relevant groups.
"Keep up the work! I remind you of the meetings of the relevant groups," the SP message reads.
The Constitutional Court today decided to suspend the decree of the President of the Republic to hold partial elections in the Municipality of Tirana. The decision comes after the request filed by Erion Veliaj, who opposes both the dismissal from office and the decreeing of the date of new elections.
According to the official announcement published by the Court, after preliminary examination of the request, it was decided:
“Suspension of the legal effects of the decree of the President of the Republic no. 350, dated 01.10.2025, for the part that sets the date of the local elections in the Municipality of Tirana, until the final decision is taken by the Constitutional Court.”
Veliaj's request sought the annulment of the Council of Ministers' decision to dismiss him from office as Mayor of Tirana, as well as the annulment of the President's decree calling new elections. He argues that these acts are in violation of Article 115, paragraphs 2 and 3 of the Constitution of Albania.
