The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani, received today the next chairman of the OSCE, Ian Borg, simultaneously Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malta.

After the meeting between the two officials of both countries, a press conference was also given.

Opinions were also exchanged on the situations and stability and peace in the region. As well as facing challenges together with the OSCE, for effectiveness and a solid basis for the organization's future missions. Hasani said that the support for Ukraine was also expressed by the parties, while the objective is the fulfillment of the organization's missions.

Hasani emphasized that Albania remains open to further relations, but also to discussions that serve cooperation and the role for peace and stability in the region.

"Gratitude to Malta for the support given to Albania in the European Union integration agenda. Malta's support was also confirmed with the opening of the group-chapters and the intergovernmental conference on October 15 in Luxembourg," Hasani said.
He added that Albania is determined to continue its path towards integration and membership in the EU.

"I asked Borg for further technical support and expertise in the future from Malta, which serves the further integration of Albania in the EU", said the minister.
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Borg, head of the OSCE presence, said that "Albania will not lack support in strengthening the law and fighting corruption". He appreciated the role of the OSCE with its presence in Albania and other European countries.

"We remain ready to support Albania to further its path towards integration into the European Union, but also with relations with the OSCE-ODIHR", said Borg.
He mentioned that the mission has encountered difficulties, but has never stopped support, both in recommendations for strengthening democracy, and in the situation of the COVID-19 pandemic and the shaking of stability in the region, with the war crisis.

"Stronger support for our presence in Tirana and appreciation. It encourages Albania to continue and advance its European perspective, you have our support", said Borg.
He ended his speech by saying that cooperation and the objective for a prosperous and stable future in the region will continue.
