Kristi Pinderi: No one has helped us more than Berisha, he will remain forever in LGBT history!

Human rights activist Kristi Pinderi, commenting on the opposition's objections to the approved law on gender equality, states that the definition of gender in this law is the same as the Istanbul Convention, which Albania ratified during the Berisha 2 government and which, among other things, also mentions gender identity. 

Meanwhile, the Berisha government has also approved the law on protection from discrimination, which recognizes gender identity as a characteristic that must be protected from discrimination. 

Therefore, for these reasons, Pinderi says that Berisha's contribution to the LGBT community is precious and will remain in the history of the movement for the rights of this community.

The Istanbul Convention ratified during the Berisha 2 government, after defining gender in the binary of man - woman, in article 4, point 3 continues:
"The implementation of the provisions of this Convention is ensured without discrimination on any basis, such as sex, gender, race, color, language, religion, political or other beliefs, national or social origin, association with a national minority, property, birth, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, health condition, disability, marital status, immigrant or refugee status, or any other status."
The Law on Gender Equality uses the same language, concept, and definition.
The second time that gender identity is mentioned in legislation in Albania is the Law on Protection from Discrimination. This law was also approved at the insistence of the Doctor!
So, both times that Albania affirms the concept of gender identity in legislation, whether in the domestic one or through the ratification of international law, in both these times, the man who has insisted that Albania do this is Sali Berisha.
For these reasons, Berisha will be - intentionally or unintentionally - an eternal asterisk in "the history of LGBT in Albania ," writes Pinderi.
