The Assembly requests the postponement of the session of the Constitutional Court for the lawsuits against the closed lists presented by Basha and others
Several lawsuits have been presented to the Constitutional Court against the amendments to the Electoral Code, approved in July by consensus between Edi Rama and Sali Berisha, a vote that finally closed the lists of deputies.
Two weeks before the session set by the Constitutional Court for the review of lawsuits, the Assembly of Albania has presented a request to postpone the date of the session.
In a communication addressed to the well-known lawyer Jordan Daci, who represents the group led by Lulzim Basha, head of the Euro-Atlantic Democrats, the Constitutional Court announces that it has accepted the request of the Assembly of Albania, postponing the public plenary session on December 4, 2024.
In the letter of the Constitutional Court, no details were given on the reasons why the Assembly requested the postponement of the session, however, the request for postponement shows the lack of preparation to defend in front of the citizens an anti-popular decision that deprives the voters of the right to choose their representatives.
