"Politics with a human face", Basha: There is no greater blessing than

The chairman of the Democratic Party-Euro-Atlantic Democrats, Lulzim Basha, in an interview for the show "Fit" on Neës24, spoke about the challenges of creating friendships in politics.

He emphasized that, despite his political commitment, true friendships arise from common interests that go beyond politics, such as literature, art and culture. Basha emphasized the importance of maintaining an honest and direct relationship with people, avoiding treating them as political factors, and focusing on helping them change their lives for the better.

Excerpt from the interview:

Question: It was difficult to make friends after being involved in politics and holding very important positions.

Lulzim Basha: Often the same or similar views on life, similar interests, connect with people even beyond political or professional interests. So, these can be interests for what I know, for literature, for art, for culture, for similar or the same hobbies. And these undoubtedly create a chemistry that goes beyond personal interests, or in this case, political interests.

However, it is important to understand that true friendship is not related to everyday interest. Politics gives this chance, knowing how to distinguish between true friendship and, of course, cooperation, courtesy, but also, as I said, collegiality, which is also important. Because we want it, we don't want it, a large part of life is occupied by the profession and in my case also politics, seen in politics as a whole.

The other side of politics is that you are always close to people. And here then you have a challenge: to keep the relationship with people as honest and direct as possible, because the nature of politics, which always sets challenges, objectives to be achieved, carries with it the great risk of robotization, of treating people as political factors and not for what they are. People with problems, with hopes, with desires, with objectives, no one is perfect.

So, you have to remain open-hearted, you have to remain down-to-earth to understand that indeed the challenges of achieving political objectives can sometimes seem, sometimes even seem like a curse. But there is no greater blessing than to engage in professional life with people and for people. That is, to find out what bothers them, what motivates them and try to change their lives even a little. Or at least it doesn't make it harder for them.
