President Begaj appoints former mayor of Vlora as ambassador to Switzerland

The President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, has today decreed the appointment of the former mayor of Vlora, Ermal Dredha, to the position of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Albania to the Swiss Confederation, with headquarters in Bern, as well as non-resident Ambassador to the Principality of Liechtenstein.

"President Begaj decreed today the appointment of Mr. Ermal Dredha to the position of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Albania to the Swiss Confederation, resident, and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Albania to the Principality of Liechtenstein, non-resident," the Presidency's announcement states.

This decree comes after Ermal Dredha's resignation from the position of Mayor of Vlora, a position he held after the local elections of May 2023, until September 2025.

We recall that from 2016 to 2023 Ermal Dredha also served as Albania's ambassador to the United Arab Emirates.
