"The fight against corruption is a priority", Basha meets with
The chairman of the Democratic Party-Euro-Atlantic Democrats, Lulzim Basha, met the American congressman, French Hill, also a member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Financial Services. In a post on Facebook, Basha writes that in the conversation with Hill he emphasized the importance of the fight against corruption, presenting his initiatives for vetting politicians and removing the immunity of MPs.

He further says that part of the discussion was the security situation in the Balkans, where Basha expressed concern about Russia's efforts to destabilize the region, requesting US support for maintaining stability in Kosovo and Montenegro.

Basha's post:

Nice to meet again with my friend, Congressman French Hill, member of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Vice Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee and the Intelligence Committee, who is also the leading candidate to chair the Finance Committee.

I emphasized that for us, support for justice and the uncompromising fight against corruption are top priorities. Corruption is eroding the economy and driving young people, intellectuals and specialized workers to emigrate.

The connection between politics and crime, denounced by me for years and already proven in SPAK's investigations, is an extraordinary problem for the country. I introduced Congressman Hill to my initiatives for the vetting of politicians, as well as the initiative to remove the immunity of deputies, which would allow the Prosecutor's Office to investigate without being hindered by the protection that politicians have in Parliament.

Unfortunately, the majority refuses to even discuss these initiatives, proving that it is ready to do anything to protect the deputies and governors connected to crime and corrupt.

Congressman Hill listened carefully to our program to govern the country, which includes reducing taxes, supporting youth, strengthening the family through economic and financial support, the program for education and health, and the plan to fight corruption and bring back investors. foreign, where of course we have a special interest for American investors.

We also discussed extensively about the situation in the region and especially in Kosovo, with concern about Russia's efforts to create a new center of tension in the Balkans, specifically in Kosovo, Bosnia and recently in Montenegro. The latest attack in Kosovo on the vital infrastructure for the supply of water and energy to the citizens is an alarm bell for the scenarios that Serbia, together with Russia, are implementing in an effort to destabilize the region.

I asked Mr. Hill for the US to maintain its focus on the Western Balkans as well, since in the face of defeats in its strategy, Russia is looking for a new heart of conflict.

Kosovo's membership in NATO would be an important step in this situation to guarantee peace and stability in the region, and for this, the role of the USA is vital.
