Rama "closes the door" to Britain: the agreement for immigrants is "exclusive" only for Meloni's Italy
Prime Minister Edi Rama has closed the door to the possible transfer of immigrants from other countries to Albania, except Italy, with which we already have an agreement.
From Brussels, Rama said in a statement to Euronews that the agreement with Italy is exclusive. "We love them all, but we have unconditional love for Italy," Rama said on Thursday.
The statement comes after the British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, met in Rome with his Italian counterpart Giorgia Meloni to discuss, among other things, the scheme that will be implemented between Italy and Albania.
According to her, immigrants seeking asylum in Italy will be sent to the camp set up in Shengjin pending the evaluation of their application, to be sent to Italy if they receive a positive response, or to their country of origin if the application is rejected.
"We decided to make this agreement based on the sense of responsibility as a neighbor, as Europeans", said Rama.
According to the agreement, up to 36 thousand asylum seekers will be sent to our country per year. The EU has not objected to the agreement.
