Rama orders MPs and party to be careful with reactions, this protest is different

Edi Rama seems to have been scared by the popular protests that have engulfed Albania. The latest evidence is a document that instructs the Parliamentary group and the leaders of the Socialist Party on how to react to the protest, and what messages they should convey.
As a general guideline, the document asks majority MPs to avoid arrogance and be as modest as possible in their reactions to the protest. It also instructs not to make accusations against the protest, but only against certain elements within it.

In parallel, the document also dictates the messages that should be conveyed in public reactions, which should emphasize the fact that Edi Rama and the Socialist Party have always been on the side of the citizens, that the project is not yet ready and the environmental assessment has only just begun, as well as the fact that tourism cannot be developed with AIRBNB alone, but needs major investments.

• No accusations of the protesters, nor of the protest, but of the elements within it

• Whenever there have been citizen protests, ER and SP have been on the side of the citizens.
This is what happened with chemical weapons, this is what happened with the students.
• There is a big difference between the opposition protests and the citizen protests. The difference
is felt not only in the participation, but also in the messages. This is clearly a citizen protest and all those who participate sincerely, as are the majority of the participants,
should be congratulated .
• But of course there are also manipulative elements in the protests. Not only from Albania
(mainly opposition political parties), not only from the region (jealousy for the development of
elite tourism), but also wider. We have data, which is also public
(posts on social networks) of the amplification that Iran, for example, is making of this protest. It
is not the fault of the protesters, but we must all be careful not to be used by
anyone who wants Albania to suffer.
• Unfortunately, the extensive international media coverage has little to do with the protest
and much to do with some of the project's investors. We are at a key moment in
the tourist season, let's not scare away those who want to visit Albania and
spend money in our country.
• As a majority we must take care of the environment, but not only. We must also promote
the development of the country in all sectors, taking special care of
the environment. But tourism, the word that comes up, cannot be developed only with Airbnb or
with 3 or 4 star hotel structures. We also need higher level structures
and when foreign investors are offered, we should not scare them away. Look at what
happened with Kakomena 20 years ago and look at where it is today. What happened
then should not be repeated.
• We are a small country and we do not have the luxury of driving out
big investors. An investor who runs away in fear is the worst possible news for
Albania, as many, many more will not come near for a long time.
• Of course, we must take care of the legality and the environment. As we speak,
there is no project yet, while the environmental study has just begun.
The best international experts and architects have been engaged to realize a
project that will be our national pride.
• There is no land donated to any investor. It is private land that was
sold by the private individual to the investor.
• This is not just about a resort, but it is about a giant investment
that brings benefits to all of Albania, not just to the area where the investment will be
carried out. More employment, more production, more advertising for
Albania.
• Civic protest is a celebration of democracy. How good that such protests happen.
We have been and will always be open to dialogue, to listen to each other and
