DP against electronic voting: It cannot be implemented in these elections

Electronic voting is expected to cause tensions between the Majority and the opposition in the Central Election Commission.

The Democratic Party is against its use in the May 11 elections, considering the process manipulated and unreliable.

The DP will oppose electronic voting in every district for the May 11 elections.

"Of course, we stand by what we have previously expressed to the CEC and we have an unwavering stance that this process cannot be implemented in these elections," said Ivi Kaso in an interview for Oranews.

''Due to the failure to address the numerous issues that this process has had in the last elections for local government bodies, the issues that have remained unaddressed and the failure to investigate them and provide answers to everything that has been raised by the opposition and the candidates has deeply undermined the trust of a good part of the voters in this process that is very delicate and above all requires trust.

The CEC has not yet decided in which districts Albanian citizens will be able to vote electronically for the 2025 parliamentary elections.

In the 2023 local elections, the mayors of Vora, Kamza, and Elbasan voted electronically, with the results coming out a few hours after the voting centers closed.

The votes in all three municipalities were contested by the DP, saying that the systems are easily manipulated, but this has been consistently denied by the CEC.
