Salianji: I would run in Tirana if they offered it to me, but they banned me!

Former DP MP Ervin Salianji, invited to Euronews Albania, stated that he would run for Tirana Mayor if offered the opportunity, but stressed that the law prohibits him from doing so, referring to his conviction.

Salianji supports the candidacy of Florjan Binaj, saying that he is extraordinary. He emphasized that for the first time in the capital, partial elections are being held, adding that in a capital where autocrats have ruled and elections are held, the opposition always wins.

Question:  Would you have taken on the role of Tirana Mayor if they had offered you the job? Would you have been better than Florjan Binaj?

Ervin Salianji: Of course I would run, but that's not the topic today, and you know that I'm forbidden from doing these things. The law forbids me.

Florjan Binaj is an extraordinary candidate. Beyond the battle for the city, there is a strong political battle. A test, an extraordinary opportunity that the capital for the first time holds partial elections, every capital where autocrats rule, the opposition has won. Because they want more freedom, opportunities and want to give more balance to certain powers and a candidate who does not have a strong political profile, is not a party member and has no obligation to a certain policy, this gives every citizen the opportunity to go out and vote for these elements that I mentioned.
