"Improper behavior and ethical violations", Bakiu: the Minister of Education is responsible for the closure of 234 schools and 98 thousand less students
In the Committee for Education and Public Information Media, the deputy of the Democratic Party-Euro-Atlantic Democrats, Merita Bakiu, harshly criticized the majority deputies for "improper behavior and ethical violations" during yesterday's session.
She emphasized that the Minister of Education is responsible for the poor state of education in the country, citing the closure of 234 schools, the loss of 98,000 students and 90,000 fewer students in recent years. Bakiu accused the government of manipulating the facts and avoiding the discussion on the problems of education, including the lack of study of textbooks and the deep crisis that this sector is going through.
She also accused the majority of "street child behavior" and refusing to discuss the state of education, trying to cover up failures through lies and deception.
"You are waiting for the threads of organized crime that have gathered your votes," said Bakiu, demanding to face the truth and warning that the opposition will continue to reveal the government's failures in front of the Albanians.
The speech of the deputy of the Democratic Party-Euro-Atlantic Democrats, Merita Bakiu, in the Committee for Education and Public Information Media:
Yesterday, your behavior was not that of a deputy, but it was behavior that violated ethics. I have never, either in this commission or in the session, never violated ethics and I have never violated the freedom of others. While your behavior yesterday was violating not only freedoms, but showing what ethics you have. You did not let me ask questions to the Minister of Education. And do you know why you didn't want to? Because you have responsibility. You have brought Albanian education to this day that is today. You didn't want me to tell the Minister of Education that you have closed 234 schools for 10 years. You have 98 thousand students less in pre-university education. You have 90 thousand students less. You have 16 thousand less teachers. In the last two years, you have 30,000 high school graduates, 1/3 of these high school graduates you have abroad for studies.
You don't want me to tell you that you have a curriculum that you haven't studied in 10 years. But you lie with numbers, you lie with facts and you come here and don't let us talk. You are the only country in the region that did not study textbooks. And you didn't agree to discuss it yesterday and screamed, laughed, mocked. If you were a street child and not a member of parliament and representative of the people. Yes, you had a right, because you were in trouble yesterday. Because your former minister came in handcuffs and you are being told the organized crime that collected your votes, you are being told that there are no people who will steal votes so that you can come back to power. This is what you wanted.
You don't want to tell the Albanians that education is at its worst today. It's your fault and yours alone. The "Pisa" test, I told you in the statements, was an alarm bell for Albanian education. And you laughed yesterday. At the same moment that you had to reflect where you are, but you had brought a material with numbers without digits, without anything, just diabolical to account for nothing. You lack the dignity, you lack the morals to face the truth. So come to your senses and don't act like you did yesterday. You will have us in front of you, don't interrupt us here in the commission, we will tell the Albanians the truth. You are part of a government that has brought in organized crime and theft .
