Sterilization with 9.5 hours of debate, Ilir Beqaj today again in the investigative commission
Today, for the second day in a row, the parliamentary investigative commission on "Sterilization" is meeting, awaiting a testimony from the former Minister of Health, Ilir Beqaj.
Yesterday's meeting was closed without any testimony from the former minister, even though he stayed for about 7 and a half hours in the premises of the hall where the committee was working, or in other premises of the Presidency of the Assembly.
It was the tensions between the members of the opposition and the majority over a request by Beqaj, for the PowerPoint presentation of the statement before the interrogation, that led to the failure of yesterday's meeting.
The chairperson of the commission, Albana Vokshi, stated that Beqaj's request for a different contextual statement is not fair since he is the same as the other witnesses, and even added that Beqaj should do the PowerPoint conferences in court.
Meanwhile, the vice-president Plarent Ndreca replied that with every restriction that is being made, the right of former minister Beqaj is being violated and his right is being violated.
Then all the following hours were spent with debates on the same point, without reaching an agreement, until the vice president Ndreca proposed to postpone the meeting, since no result had been reached.
The commission meets today at 10:30 a.m., despite the fact that Mr. Ndreca proposed an earlier time given the pace of work in yesterday's meeting, but the chairwoman of the commission, Mrs. Vokshi, was engaged in another international meeting.
As for the agenda, it is the same as those of Tuesday's meeting.
