Sad/ The famous singer dies after a serious illness

Taika Nelson, the singer and sister of Prince, has passed away at the age of 64. The sad news has been confirmed by her family, and specifically her son told The Star Tribune that his mother had passed away, but without revealing the cause of death. Her cousin, Charles 'Chaz' Smith, also wrote on Facebook:

"Our family is very saddened to share the news of the loss of Taika Evene Nelson, who passed away this morning."

Taika was Prince's sister and the daughter of John L. Nelson and Mattie Shaw Nelson. In June, she was forced to cancel her last concert before retiring from music for good due to health issues. Her career spanned four albums from 1988 to 2011, including Royal Blue (1988) and Hustler (2011). In an interview with the Minnesota Star Tribune, Taika admitted, “I've never been a singer. I am a writer. I happen to sing and I like it."

Taika was also preparing an autobiography, while her last public appearance was in 2018, in Australia, in a performance dedicated to Prince. In an interview at the time, she spoke about her brother's profound influence on music. Her song 'End Of The Road', dedicated to her parents and Prince, was recorded a year after his death at Paisley Park.
