Katy Perry has chosen to accompany her musical comeback with a strong dose of honesty. After splitting from Orlando Bloom, the 41-year-old singer admits that the release process was not easy at all.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Katy revealed that she had been struggling for months with whether to release the song because it exposes a very vulnerable side of herself. "Even after so many years in the industry, being open and vulnerable is still hard. But if this song speaks to even one person who is going through the same thing, then it was worth it," she wrote, thanking fans for the warm response.

Part of the behind-the-scenes breakdown of the music video, which carries symbolic elements about healing after a relationship, Katy said that "Bandaids" is not just a breakup song, but a message of hope for those who are learning to rebuild after emotional pain.

The song comes just months after the end of her long-term relationship with actor Orlando Bloom. The couple, who first got engaged in 2016 and had occasional on-off dates, welcomed their daughter Daisy Dove in 2020.
