Barcelona with a surprising move for Mohamed Salah
Barcelona are planning a surprise move to sign Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah, who is in the final 12 months of his current contract, according to media reports.
Speculation over Salah's future continues as the Egyptian star nears the end of his contract, which expires in the summer of 2025.
The 32-year-old is ready to listen to offers and could receive one from Barcelona, according to "Diario Sport".
The Catalans have held talks with Salah in 2021, before he renewed with Liverpool, but failed to progress negotiations due to Liverpool's high asking price and his wage demands.
However, the situation could be different next summer, especially if Salah does not sign a new contract at Anfield and becomes available on a free transfer.
Salah has yet to reveal his future plans but offered an enigmatic update after his goal against Brighton in the last game.
He wrote on social media that he will never forget the feeling of scoring at Anfield "no matter what happens".
Salah would certainly have plenty of offers if he decides to accept a new challenge after an important role for Liverpool since his arrival from Roma in 2017.
He has also shown little sign of slowing down despite his advancing age, having been in excellent form with nine goals already for the Reds in all competitions.
Barcelona are certainly not short of goals this season. Hansi Flick's side have scored 40 goals in La Liga for the 2024-25 season, the second-highest after the first 12 games of the season in its history.
Liverpool fans are in a fever if Salah will decide to continue his career at "Anfield" after the end of the season. Barcelona may be one of a number of clubs monitoring the Egyptian's situation, but are also thought to be ready to rekindle their interest in Spanish star Nico Williams next summer.
