According to his statements, Kimmich has not yet made a final decision about his sporting future. Joshua's contract with Bayern expires in just under seven months.
Those in charge in Munich have recently repeatedly emphasized that they definitely want to keep the midfielder for the long term. When asked about the current status, the 29-year-old was reserved: " I am in contact with the club and it will remain so", he explained on Wednesday at the press conference in Germany.
According to Kimmish, the mood between him and the club has improved significantly in recent weeks: " We know how my situation was eight to ten weeks ago. Had the feeling, when will Joshua finally leave? Now we see how quickly things can happen in football. This is a very, very important decision in my career. The decision should be considered carefully. Of course the past plays a role, but so does the future. I will think about it", said the captain of Germany.
Interestingly, it coincides with the fact that in his early 30s, Kimmich is at his peak as a footballer, but the next contract will still be the "last big one" for the Bayern star.
The footballer has different plans for the future. "I don't plan to end my career in the second or third league or to drag it out like that ," concluded the Kompany midfielder.
