First round of Euro 2026 U-17 qualifiers/ Albania draws 1-1 with Netherlands

The Albanian U-17 national team started the first round of the 2026 European Championship qualifiers with a draw.

The Reds drew 1-1 with the Netherlands at the "Sportski park NK Graničar" in Kotoriba.

Dion Vata scored the goal for Albania.

Coach Fatjon Tafaj started the match with this starting lineup: Xhoel Mezani (GK), Kostantinos Varesi (C), Ettore Pierro Dennis, Petro Marku, Dion Vata, Mattias Allasufi, Armend Muslika, Frensi Mali, Klejton Uruci, Sokol Uldedaj, Ermal Ymeri.

The Netherlands took the lead in the 11th minute with Schaken's goal, while the first half ended with the score 1-0.

In the second half, the Reds reacted and tied the score in the 52nd minute with Dion Vata.

The red and black team put in a very good performance, trying again to score and defending well to avoid any danger until the end. The match ended with a score of 1-1.

The second match of the U-17 National Team in the group will be played against Croatia on November 14, at 11:30, while the last match will be against Kazakhstan on November 17, at 11:30.
