Switzerland coach: Xhaka wants to win every match, he will do the same against Kosovo

Switzerland national team coach Murat Yakin spoke before the match against Kosovo, valid for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

He initially focused on captain Granit Xhaka, whom he said is an undisputed leader and a player who seeks victory at every moment.

"Xhaka wants to win every match, even those in training.

"He is incredibly important for us and will be so tomorrow as well, as he is putting in an exceptional performance," said Yakin.

The Swiss coach also spoke about the possibility of Xherdan Shaqiri returning to the national team.

"Shaqiri is an extraordinary player, so I can't say that the door is closed."

But currently we have very strong players and we are looking towards the future," he stressed.

Yakin also commented on the Kosovo team, appreciating the changes in playing style.

"Kosovo has had changes in the system and with new players has made steps forward.

They have secured the play-offs and they fully deserved it."

He added that Switzerland will be maximally focused in both phases of the game.

"Tomorrow we will be focused on defense, but at the same time we will look to score goals against Kosovo," Yakin concluded.
