Three years after Lewandowski's transfer, Bayern still waiting for payments from Barcelona

It has been more than three years since Robert Lewandowski secured his move from Bayern to Barcelona.
Germany's record champions were initially reluctant to let their top scorer leave, but the €45m transfer fee for an almost 34-year-old player made Munich's leaders give in.
The problem: according to a new report, the Bundesliga club has not yet received almost half of the amount. As Spanish newspaper Sport has learned from Barcelona's latest financial report, the Catalans still owe Bayern 20 million euros out of the 45 million euros they paid for Robert Lewandowski. A considerable sum, although installment payments are common in football.
Other clubs are also said to be awaiting payments from Barca, which has been in serious financial difficulties for years – Leeds United among them. The English club are said to still be waiting for €41.9m for the transfer of Rafinha. Meanwhile, Sevilla are reported to have yet to receive €24.5m for Jules Kunde. And with half a dozen other players still owed, Barcelona are said to have amassed €159.1m in transfer debts.
It is not known whether the various clubs have already increased the pressure on the Catalans or even involved the respective federations. However, Bayern's financial balance with Barcelona has been criticized several times before. Right now, it is said that Robert Lewandowski is disappointed with the reigning La Liga champions.
Coach Hansi Flick has recently been increasingly reluctant to give the 37-year-old a place in the starting line-up, which is said to have irritated the veteran. A move away next summer is now seen as the most likely option. Retirement from football is not yet an option for Lewandowski.
