The unexpected hero of the European final in Germany was Mikel Oyarzabal, who four minutes before the end of regular time sealed the fate of the match and ensured Spain the championship title. However, not everyone in Spain saw his goal as an act of heroism.
Oyarzabal was born in the small town of Elorri, located in the eastern part of the Basque region, which has about 7,000 inhabitants, and where his mother lives to this day.

There have been only a few exceptions, who do not. Most of them refuse to speak, they don't even want to stop", reports a journalist from the newspaper "OK Diario".
