Alert on the use of social networks by young people, this is how teenagers

A new concern has recently been raised regarding the presence of teenagers on online platforms, because they lie about their age.

According to the BBC, the media regulator in Great Britain says that at least 22% of 17-year-olds lie about their age, as they appear over 18 in the online world.

Ofcom (the British media regulator) has told the BBC that in 2025 new laws will come into force that will introduce a liability for age falsification.

According to Ofcom, next year will see substantial legal changes to this concern that minors face with the problems of the online world.

Teenagers have given details of how they register on online platforms, clarifying the part of denying their age.

"We set the exact day and month of birth, but we change the year, moving it at least 10 years ago," said a 15-year-old.

"It's that simple," added the minor.

Another 15-year-old said "There is no verification, you are not asked for an identity card, you are not asked for anything!".

There is deep public concern about children being exposed to harmful content online.

"Every day we remove thousands of suspected underage accounts," TikTok said in a statement.

So, other platforms have not given any statement about this disturbing phenomenon.
