Two sides of social networks

Social networks in modern times are considered part of engagements and daily life. Not infrequently, the issue of whether these networks are really social or asocial, especially among young people, has been addressed, but each has interpreted in its own form and way, which mainly starts from the purpose for which and how long they are used by young people.

According to psychologist Mira Gashi Aziri, the whole problem is based on why these networks are used.

"We already know that as a family, as young people, as children, we all belong to the century of technology and we cannot avoid it, but the way we use it then leads us to one negative side of the road or the other positive side of the road because we cannot see social networks either only as negativity or only positive sides", said psychologist Mira Gashi Aziri for Radio Free Europe.

"As for the psychological part, the negative effects are because people who use social networks excessively become more antisocial. Thus, they can be greatly affected by depression from various anxieties," she says.

"On the other hand, when we are constructive, when we know what we want to look for, then we also see the positive side of social networks because through them different promotions are made, different platforms are made, a lot can be learned from them. Communication is easier, it is very easy for various researches, be it scientific or social, it means we catch the positive sides faster. So, it all depends on the way of use", says Mira Gashi Aziri.

On the other hand, the expert from the social network agency, "Hallakate", Diora Binxhiu, told Radio Free Europe that addiction to social networks nowadays can even is managed.

"Addiction to social networks in general is very manageable because now we have applications and the phone itself, and especially the iPhone device, allows you to stop the time you are using social networks", said Binxhiu.

Diora Binxhiu also said that access to information is easier and this influences young people to be more interested in receiving information from social networks or another source.

"Access to information is much easier now than it ever was and anything you are interested in or want to understand, you have immediately. When you want to look for a restaurant or a hotel or something else, if it doesn't have an online presence, then it's simple, how to say it's dead because it's become your primary, primary source, where to go. and asks for information about it, and an addiction is created because you will then ask for answers for everything", said Binxhiu.

Egzona Krasniqi is a third-year student at the Faculty of Philosophy. She says that she mainly uses social networks to access and communicate with her friends, thus not denying the fact that sometimes she overdoes the time she spends on them.

"The time I spend on social networks depends on the days and the free time I have, I mainly use them, it depends on which social network, but I usually access them for work or to communicate with friends. Normal, the time I spend is abundant that I spend time that is not necessary and I think it affects badly that we are becoming virtual people and separated from the real world. I use the social network Facebook mostly for work, while I use Instagram and Snapchat for an easier approach with friends", said Krasniqi.

However, social networks have already become one of the most used forms for people to communicate with family, friends and colleagues.

But, in addition to all the benefits, connoisseurs of technology and cybercrimes constantly draw attention to the great danger that social networks have for security and privacy, especially for those people who excessively expose personal data through these networks.
