A strong earthquake hits Greece, where the epicenter was

An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.8 on the Richter scale occurred shortly after 19:00 local time in the maritime area near Kythnos.

According to the revised solution of the Geodynamic Institute of Athens, the epicenter of the earthquake is located 39 kilometers west-southwest of Kythnos.

The focal depth of the earthquake was estimated at 114.7 kilometers.

The earthquake was easily felt in various places in Attica and the Peloponnese, while it is noticeable that the tremors were also registered by the Turkish disaster response agency AFAD, reporting that "the epicenter was in the Aegean, approximately 200 kilometers from Smyrna".
