Choose your algorithm! Instagram comes with a new update

Instagram is testing a new feature that will give users more control over the content that appears to them. The new feature is called “Your Algorithm” and it allows users to manually view and adjust the topics they want Instagram’s algorithm to see.

At the moment, this option is only available in the video section, Reels, but is expected to become available globally soon.

When you click the icon with two hearts and a controller in the Reels section, a list of topics that Instagram thinks you might be interested in appears, based on your previous activity.

From this list you can remove topics you no longer want to see, and also add new topics that interest you.

This algorithm tweak gives users greater control over the content they see, making their feed more personalized and relevant to their interests, whether it's music, sports, fashion, education, or other areas. The feature is still in testing and is currently only available to a select few users; it's expected to gradually roll out to everyone.
