Mexico probe: Rival group raids Hysa brothers' casino business
Luftar, Arben, Ramiz and Fatos Hysa, four brothers from Albania who moved years ago to Mexico and set up a regular casino business there, have won the battle with the local media after an extensive smear campaign that also reached Albania.

Investigations have proven that a group of rival businessmen of the Albanian brothers who have succeeded in operating casinos in Mexico, paid the media in their country to write derogatory articles about the "four Albanians".

The unverified articles claimed that Luftar, Arben, Ramiz and Fatos Hysa were involved in transnational drug organizations and laundered their money through casinos.

However, as it has been proven later, the news reported by some of the media in Mexico were paid for by a group of local businessmen who aimed to create a monopoly in the operation of casinos and put the Albanian brothers out of the game.

In September 2022, it was reported that the Luftar brothers, Arbeni, Ramiz and Fatos, had an alliance with Ismael Zambada García, leader of the Sinaloa Cartel, and with Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) in order to launder millions dollars through their businesses in the tourism and entertainment sectors. The Office of the Attorney General in Mexico (FGR) and the Intelligence Unit in the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP) have announced that they have not conducted any investigation against the four businessmen brothers from Albania, as their activity has been proven to have no related to organized crime or money laundering, regarding the investigation file number: FED/SON/AGUA/0002348/2020.

"For their part, officials from the General Directorate of Games and Lotteries, Administrative Unit of the Ministry of the Interior (SG), told Grupo Imagen that Luftar and Arbeni appear as shareholders of the company Entretenimiento Palermo, SA de CV, a company that the authorization to be an Operator has been granted, which enables them to develop entertainment activities, which does not mean that they are casino operators", reports the Mexican media.

Grupo Imagen is a Mexican media conglomerate owned by Grupo Empresarial Ángeles and the third largest media company in Mexico after Televisa and TV Azteca.

So, in other words, the Luftar brothers, Arbeni, Ramiz and Fatos Hysa are businessmen who act as operators in the development of casinos, according to the authorization and the law of Mexico, but this does not mean that they are the owners of the casinos.

In an interview for the Mexican media conglomerate "Grupo Imagen", Arben Hysa explained that the accusations against his family are false and ridiculous, since for years they have devoted themselves only to honest work.

"The criminal charges against our family are not only false, but also ridiculous; If my family had millions of dollars to talk about, we wouldn't have to get up every day to work away from our loved ones, thinking about opening new businesses, like our restaurants, where there is always the risk of do not receive the return of the invested capital", said businessman Arben Hysa.

He has added that the versions that supposedly link them to criminal organizations are accusations from people (without mentioning names) who have invested in the casino sector and seek to create a monopoly in the field of gambling.

"However, the authorities are not naive, they know very well that we are responsible people and that we are not involved in criminal activity", he continued.
