Government prepares draft criminal amnesty: Immediate release for 380 people,

The government has prepared a draft for a criminal amnesty, which is expected to be passed first by the Council of Ministers and then by the Parliament. The document, obtained by Report TV, foresees benefits for over 10 thousand people, among them about 380 prisoners who will be released immediately and about 1 thousand others who will benefit from reduced sentences.

According to the draft, immediate release will benefit men who have been sentenced to up to 3 years in prison or have up to 3 years left to serve, as well as women sentenced to up to 4 years or with 4 years left in prison. The amnesty also includes women over 50 years old, men over 60 years old, and persons who were 18 years old or younger at the time of the crime, with the exception of serious criminal offenses.

The draft also provides for a reduction in sentences by 1 year for men and 1.5 years for women and minors, while around 9,000 other people will benefit from a suspension of criminal prosecution for offenses committed until December 31, 2025, punishable by up to 3 years in prison.
