Documents released from the Epstein files have put the spotlight on two of the most popular and powerful figures in global music: Jay Z and Beyonce.
The reason has to do with an unconfirmed FBI report, part of the file itself, which names rapper Jay Z.
The document in question is a transcript of a phone call recorded in July 2019, where an anonymous person claims to have been drugged and taken to Jeffrey Epstein's Florida residence.
It says she then woke up in the presence of producer Harvey Weinstein and Shawn Carter, Jay-Z's real name.
The report itself clarifies that it is an introductory note and not an unconfirmed statement of evidence or investigative findings.
Within hours of the mentions being revealed, social media exploded.
Claims quickly spread on Instagram and X that Beyoncé had lost around 10 million followers in reaction to the mention of her husband's name in the dossier.
Jay-Z's personal account has also reportedly suffered a drop in followers, according to data circulating from online analytics platforms.
As if that weren't enough, conspiracy theories also exploded online, according to which Jay Z has left America, but which, according to American media, are not true.
US authorities have clarified that there are no criminal charges against Jay-Z and there is no official investigation.
Lawyers and legal experts emphasize that the FBI's initial reports do not constitute evidence and may contain unverified allegations, without witnesses or further investigation.
