Chicago Police: 11 Inmates Escape from Jail, Armed and Dangerous

Eleven inmates have escaped from a New Orleans jail, and authorities have launched a manhunt for them.

"Early this morning we were notified that approximately 11 people had escaped from a city jail," Christopher Goody, a local police officer, said at a press conference.

"All suspects are considered armed and dangerous," he warned.

One of the fugitives was arrested this morning in the city's historic center, Louisiana State Police said, adding that "the search for the others is ongoing."

According to local media, some of the escapees are accused of murder.
