Erdogan accuses the West of "barbarism" and Islamophobia in the war in Gaza

Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan used a human rights speech on Saturday to accuse the West of "barbarism" in its stance on the war between Israel and Hamas - the radical Palestinian group designated a terrorist organization by the US and EU.
"Israel has committed massacres and atrocities that will shame all humanity," Erdogan said in a packed hall in Istanbul, a day before the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, writes REL.
"All values related to humanity are being killed in Gaza. In the face of such brutality, international institutions and human rights organizations are not taking concrete steps to prevent these violations," said the Turkish leader.
The Declaration of Human Rights, promulgated by the United Nations General Assembly in Paris on December 10, 1948, maintains a standard for human rights and freedoms for all people.
Referring to the veto the United States used on Friday against a United Nations resolution calling for a cease-fire in Gaza, Erdogan said it was possible to have a fairer world "but not with America, because it stands by Israel... From now on, humanity will not think that the USA supports the Universal Declaration of Human Rights".
