A strong earthquake hit the capital of Mexico this Thursday.
According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake had a magnitude of 5.8. Its epicenter was south of Mexico City, at a depth of 44 km.
The mayor of Mexico City, Marty Batres, said that citizens across the country were alerted as they fled their homes and office buildings in neighborhoods across the city.
The head of the federal civil protection agency announced that there were no reports of injuries or significant damage around the city.
