"For many reasons..."/ Croatia rejects Trump, will not join the Peace Board
Croatia will not join US President Donald Trump's Peace Council, Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic announced today, without giving a reason for the decision.
"After careful analysis, the government's position (…) is that at this stage Croatia will not join the Peace Board for numerous reasons," Plenkovic told reporters.
He added that he would not specify the reasons.
The Croatian government had previously indicated that the country had been invited to join the structure headed by Donald Trump.
Plenkovic had stated that Croatia, a member of the European Union, was waiting for the EU to harmonize its position on the issue.
Introduced last week by Donald Trump at the World Economic Forum in Davos, the Peace Board was initially part of the American plan to end the war in the Palestinian territory of the Gaza Strip.
But its ambitions for resolving conflicts around the world are actually much broader, which, according to its critics, makes it a rival organization to the United Nations.
