Blocked since October 1, Donald Trump signs the law that ends the US government shutdown

With a simple signature, President Donald Trump ended a painful impasse that had paralyzed the activities of the federal government for months.
The bill reopening funding for the federal government successfully passed the House of Representatives, receiving 217 votes in favor and 214 against. With its approval, the federal government can continue its activities until the end of September.
The government shutdown occurred after the U.S. Congress failed to reach an agreement to pass the budget bill needed to fund federal operations by the deadline. When this happens, government agencies halt non-essential activities, forcing some employees to work without pay or sending them home. It has been ongoing since October 1, creating uncertainty for many citizens and government employees.
Shorter closure and missing deals for ICE
This end to the government shutdown came after a long period of temporary shutdowns. In November, Congress passed a temporary resolution that guaranteed funding until January 30, and then another short shutdown was needed to allow the final bill to be passed.
One of the details left to be clarified is funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which will remain without funding for another two weeks. This delay could affect ICE operations, including those related to immigration enforcement.
