Trump announces signing of US-Iran deal, but Tehran does not confirm date

An agreement between the United States and Iran, which aims to end the conflict in the Middle East, is expected to be signed soon, according to statements by US President Donald Trump.
Trump announced that the document could be signed on Sunday and that the Strait of Hormuz would be reopened to international shipping immediately thereafter.
However, Iranian authorities have not confirmed the deadline announced by Washington. Officials in Tehran have stated that a final decision on the memorandum of understanding has not yet been made, suggesting that negotiations are continuing and that an agreement could be reached in the coming days.
Despite disagreements over the timing of the signing, both sides have signaled that significant progress has been made towards a compromise.
According to diplomatic sources, an initial text has been agreed upon that would pave the way for technical negotiations on more complex issues, including the Iranian nuclear program and sanctions relief.
