The number of employees in the public administration is increasing year after year, even though a series of services are already provided online.

INSTAT reported that in the last quarter of 2022, the public administration reached 184,396 people or 2,036 more employees in the third quarter, while employment in the private sector for the same comparison period suffered a contraction of over 10 thousand people.
In the private sector, employment has a seasonal cycle. A larger number of people are employed during the summer season from May to September due to demand from tourism and agriculture. In contrast, in the state sector employment is not linked to seasons, but to elections.
Always on the eve of elections there is a tendency to inflate the administration with even temporary employees. In the last quarter of last year, employment in the public administration not only increased compared to the third quarter, but also to the same period of 2021.
Past experiences show that employment in the Public Administration on the eve of elections increases rapidly, especially in cleaning and greening companies and in water supply.
