Olive oil exports reached the value of 25 million euros for the 8th month, with an annual increase of 665% in the same period.
Last season, olive and oil production reached records as a result of good weather conditions and the entry into production of new orchards.
On the other hand, the largest olive producers in Europe, Italy and Spain faced more drought that led to a drastic reduction of the oil in the European markets.
This was a good moment for Albania, since Albanian farmers who had accumulated stocks for two or three years exported them to Italy. The income from olive oil exports turned into a good source of financing for olive oil growers and processors.
The Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Arian Jaupllari, claimed earlier for "Monitor" that taking into consideration the effects of climate change that brought drought to the main producing and exporting countries of Europe, several cooperation agreements have been signed to promote olive exports. and olive oil in the Italian and European market.
Sources from the market indicate that this season will also be good. The production is not expected to be in the size of last year, but it is enough to not create shortages in the domestic market.
