Science reveals why dogs tilt their heads when 'communicating' with

A new scientific study claims to have discovered the reasons why dogs turn their adorable heads to one side, usually when they are with people.

Many dog owners say the gesture is one of the most adorable sightings of their pets, and a series of amusing videos can be found on YouTube with sights and sounds that encourage this behavior.

That's why the researcher of the "Family Dog Project" animal society, Andrea Sommese, says that he led.

A group of researchers discovered the reasons why dogs do this.

The Animal Cognition Group's study shows that when the most intelligent dogs were asked for a toy with its name on it, they tilted their heads 43 percent of the time, compared to 2 percent of normal dogs.

"This shows that the gesture is performed by dogs in situations when they hear something they consider important," the study says.

"It seems that the behavior is related to auditory perception and is probably performed when the animal wants to hear better, or they don't understand well, almost like humans do."

The study concluded by saying that in the future it was hoped to look for the behavior in other contexts or in relation to other sounds.
