Pristina ranks as the cheapest capital in Europe

Pristina has been ranked as the cheapest capital in Europe according to the cost of living index, rent, food prices and restaurant services. The graph published by Radio Free Europe (REL) , based on Numbeo data, shows that our city is significantly cheaper than many other European capitals, but at the same time the purchasing power of residents remains among the lowest.

Numbeo compared various European cities with New York, where an index value of 80 indicates that the city is 20% cheaper than New York, while an index value of 120 indicates that the city is 20% more expensive.

According to this comparison, Pristina results as the cheapest city in Europe, positioning itself in the group of most affordable cities (Group 5).

However, the REL report highlights that, despite lower prices, the purchasing power of Prishtina citizens is low. According to the data, a Prishtina resident is able to buy about 35% fewer goods and services than a New York resident, indicating that wages and income remain a key factor limiting the standard of living.

Compared to other Balkan capitals, Pristina leaves behind some of the most affordable cities, but in terms of purchasing power it remains in a similar position to other countries in the region. In the overall ranking, after Pristina, the lowest in purchasing power are cities such as Athens, Skopje, Belgrade, Lisbon, Kiev, Chisinau and Tirana. /Radio Free Europe
