Discussions on the issue of the President in Kosovo begin today, Kurti and Abdixhiku hold talks

Discussions are expected to resume today between Prime Minister Albin Kurti, also the leader of the Vetëvendosje Movement, and the leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Lumir Abdixhiku, to resolve the presidential issue.

LDK MP Besjan Mustafa has announced that Kurti and Abdixhiku will meet in the premises of the Kosovo Parliament from 11:00.

Acting President Albulena Haxhiu has refused to comment on warnings that Kurti will resume meetings with opposition party leaders on the issue of the president from Monday, during the tributes for the Rezallë massacre on Sunday, saying that it is not the place to talk about such topics. Meanwhile, analyst Artan Muhaxhiri has assessed that a solution for the president can only come after a new election cycle.

"The only realistic option is to go to the elections, as formal meetings can be held with opposition representatives, but in essence there is no possibility, no space to find any cooperation with them because it would be absurd for the opposition to vote for a government candidate under these dominant conditions of Mr. Kurti," he said.
