A Ukrainian victory against Russia depends on cooperation with the European Union, Volodymyr Zelensky told EU foreign ministers gathered in Kiev.
Kiev hopes to meet a number of EU criteria to join the bloc and has relied heavily on Western military aid since the invasion began in February last year.
"I am sure that Ukraine and the whole free world are able to win this confrontation. But our victory directly depends on our cooperation with you" – Zelensky told the ministers.
"It is very important for all of us to take steps forward in every field, without stopping at anything, increasing activity in Europe, increasing leadership in Europe.
It is also very important to maximize the strengthening of the sky shield of Ukraine on the eve of winter. The air defense systems that our country received, such as Patriot, IRIS-T, NASAMS and others, are already playing a positive role in saving lives.
We need a lot of these systems - in particular, some Patriots for the protection of our southern regions can fundamentally change the situation and to a large extent make Russian terror senseless," said Zelensky.
